Steven Sawyers is a rheumatologist from the Hawkes Bay, growing up and doing his schooling in Hastings. He attended Auckland University before working in Hastings and Christchurch Hospitals, completing his FRACP in Cairns, Australia.
Steven took up a public rheumatology post back in the Hawkes Bay in 2012. His rheumatological special interests include inflammatory arthritis including RA, crystal arthritis, point of care ultrasound and PMR/GCA. He currently sits on the executive committees of the New Zealand Rheumatology Association and the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology.
He enjoys getting on the bike, both on the tarmac and the dirt.

Bob Gerber is a Consultant Cardiologist currently working in Hawke’s Bay DHB. He graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School which is part of King’s College London in 2000. He holds dual accreditation in Cardiology and General Internal.
Bob is an expert in the field of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) guided stent implantation and is also trained in implanting pacemakers and implantable cardio-defibrillators (ICDs) as well as coronary stents. He has maintained his credentialing within New Zealand by performing these procedures on a regular basis. He has expertise in hypertension and heart failure as well as heart rhythm disturbances and dyslipidaemia.
He enjoys cycling, trail-running and time with the family who are living in Hawke’s bay.

Eve completed a fellowship in Developmental Paediatrics in Brisbane in 2018.

Richard is a visiting Vascular Surgeon available for vascular consultations and varicose vein treatments. He has opened a Hawke’s Bay clinic to make it easier for many of his Hawke’s Bay patients who have in the past travelled to Wellington to see him.
Richard’s dedicated support team includes specialist nurses and local nurses, where the focus is always on the best outcomes for patients.
His initial surgical training was in General Surgery, before sub-specialising in Vascular, Endovascular and Renal transplant surgery. His medical degree is from Otago Medical School, where he is currently an Honorary Senior Lecturer. In the public system, he is a consultant Vascular Surgeon, Endovascular and Transplant Surgeon at Wellington Hospital.
