Kaweka Health has been overwhelmed by the strong interest from its recruitment campaign as it looks to fill more than 60 roles in time for the elective surgery facilities opening in mid 2022.

Recruitment manager Emma Ellison says the first stage of the campaign is to attract nursing team leaders in Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Surgical Ward, and theatre specialties as well as for the team of Anaesthetic Technicians.

“We’re looking for leaders who will put our patients first and ensure every step of their journey with us is considered, consistent and focused on our vision of ‘Making it Better’.

Kaweka Health is using social media to drive interest with specific roles posted on the Kaweka Health website and recruitment portal Seek.

Emma, previously had a similar role in Hawke’s Bay and says she jumped at a “very unique and once in a lifetime opportunity” to be part of a local-led start-up elective surgery facility.

“There’s such a positive environment which truly empowers its staff to provide world class patient care. Why would you not want to be part of that.”

“We are starting with a blank canvas and creating a new approach to health care in Hawke’s Bay.

“The recruitment campaign has started with a hiss and a roar and we are thrilled with the strong interest and the calibre of talent that’s keen to join our new facility and approach to surgical healthcare.”

Following the appointment of team leaders, the next step will be recruiting nurses and anaesthetic technicians as well as administration and support staff, which the team leaders will have an important role in appointing.

Emma says as well as taking a different approach to advertising roles, the interview process is also unique and explores a broader range of skills and interests.

“This is an opportunity for people to do things different in a sector that has been very traditional in its approach. We want our staff to know they can contribute to how we evolve and how we make things better.
